FURY 325 REVIEW

If you know me and the type of rides I enjoy, B&M Hypers are rarely mentioned. I'm not saying that they are bad, I'm just saying they don't rate highly for me. This is a complete opposite for Gabby whose love of Mako at SeaWorld Orlando was one of her first big coasters and then Shambhala at Port Aventura kicking off her 2022 European adventure. For me, I feel more from Nemesis every time.

Going into Fury 325 is a bucket list, not just for the both of us but all enthusiasts due to the reputation this enormous coaster has built up. This is Gabby's type of ride and my hopeful redemption.

The day we visited was a washout and so we waited for the rain to disappear. We were not going to take a rain ride on our first time but a front row as always.

We spent two days at Carowinds and had 16 rides on Fury 325. Instantly, Nemesis was dethroned as my Favourite B&M, but for Gabby she needed more convincing. This was because we had a warmup on Intimidator in the morning and the coaster was only slightly better for her. Why have the two types of coasters in the same park, this is creating very conflicting issues as Fury is better so why bother with Intimidator, but Fury is not leagues better so why build Fury?

As you walk past the huge sign and enter the queue, like standard Cedar Fair parks there's not much if any theming at all. You board the train and head up 325 ft, the world's largest traditional lift hill coaster. Before you know it, you are coming all the way back down for one of the longest and best drops out there. The pull up was incredible felt with far superior force than you would normally find from a B&M.

You head up with a turn around to the right, speed hill, another speed hill and the famous double cleft which everyone has seen hundreds of pictures as the main selling point to Fury 325 so in true review fashion, here is another one.

The following bit is a dead spot as you go under the bridge and a force less hill, luckily the next hill send you out of your seat, even with a trim before the huge helix. Again, this is not the best helix in the world, nor is it the worst. The best bit about it being a huge head chopper from a lone main support coming down. Next you face multiple hills all of which chucks you out your seats and keeps you there before hitting that break run.

This instantly became my favorite B&M. The speed and low to the ground moments were what I have craved for since riding Silver Star at Europa Park with my favorite element on that coaster being the S-bend as you go into the brake run. This was like that, on steroids and over 300ft!

Compared to the other Giga I have ridden, Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland, this was a much-improved experience in every level.

Re-rides on Intimidator helped Gabby to become more impressed as the initial ride didn't quite meet the very high expectations that was set from the coasters fame, also being the first giga, the idea of being taller instantly feels like the ride time should be longer than a hyper which with the speed, unfortunately it's not the case.

Did Fury 325 crack my top 10? Unfortunately, not but I fucking loved it and it was so close. For myself to come in with low expectations, I can respect this masterpiece and it currently sits at number 12 and my number 1 Bolliger and Mabillard coaster.

Marcus Score: 9.5/10

Gabby Score: 9/10
